Advanced Veterinary Care’s Pet Awareness Workshop Series (PAWS) Exotics Encounter

Exotics Encounter

Advanced Veterinary Care is pleased to announce our first Pet Awareness Workshop Series (PAWS) Exotics Encounter. This class will be held on Wednesday, February 8th from 3:30 to 5:30 pm and will be open to high school and middle school aged students. Students interested in a career in veterinary medicine are strongly encouraged to attend. Enrollment is limited and classes will be filled on a first come, first served basis. Light refreshments will be provided.

Ever wonder what’s inside a turtles shell or how much food a hamster can carry inside its cheeks? Come get the answers to these and other questions at AVC! The PAWS Exotics Encounter will be an interactive, hands-on workshop with lecture and laboratory components. This class will be taught and supervised by an experienced veterinarian. The species covered include:

  • A Lessor-Sulphur Crested Cockatoo
  • A baby Hedgehog!
  • A Bearded Dragon
  • A baby Florida King Snake
  • A Leopard Tortoise

The focus of this class is the unique anatomy and physiology of some of the rarer pets veterinarians see on a daily basis. Students will examine the animals, interpret x-rays, and discuss species adaptations. If you have a student who has an exotic pet or is interested in animal medicine, this class is not to be missed. You can register your student through our website and a confirmation will be sent via e-mail. Registration is $40.00 per student and can be paid by cash or check the day of the workshop.

To register, or to see photos from previous PAWS, visit our website at sanelijovet.com or call (760)736-3636 to speak to one of our experienced staff. We look forward to seeing you.
