It looks like this winter is shaping up to be a busy flu season, so the sooner you and your children get your flu shots, the better.  In general, the flu vaccine is universally recommended for children 6 months of age and older.  The flumist nasal spray is an alternative to the standard flu vaccine and can be given to healthy children over 2 years of age (those without any underlying chronic illness such as: heart disease, asthma or reactive airways disease; people with medical conditions such as diabetes or kidney failure; or people with illnesses that weaken the immune system, or who take medications that can weaken the immune system).

Many of our offices are holding flu shot clinics with extended weekday or weekend hours.  Be sure to call your pediatrician’s office to find out how they are scheduling their clinics this flu season.  For more information you can watch Dr. Anthony Magit’s latest video on this year’s cold and flu season.

CPMG has a network of doctors countywide, all specially trained to care for kids – so you can find the just the right pediatrician for your child.  Call our customer service department at 1-877-276-4543 to find a pediatrician near you, or visit our website  for more in-depth information about our doctors, health topics, and more.  To start a discussion on a health issue important to you, be sure to visit our blog, Kids’ Health 1st, and follow us on Facebook, Twitter and YouTube, too!
