Holiday Village and Tree Lighting Ceremony Planned in San Marcos
The City of San Marcos will present its annual Santa’s Magical Village at the San Marcos Civic Center, 1 Civic Center Drive on Saturday, Dec. 7 from 3 to 8 pm and Sunday, Dec. 8 from 10 am to 3 pm.
The event features an indoor holiday boutique and free activities for children that include ornament making, sand art and candle creation. Bands and choral groups will also provide entertainment throughout the weekend. Santa will be available for visits and photos on both days.
“This event has truly become a San Marcos family tradition,” said Community Services Assistant Director Holly Malan. “It is exciting for the children to see Santa arrive in the big fire truck and watch as he climbs the 60 foot ladder to light the tree.”
The lighting of the San Marcos holiday tree will take place on Saturday, Dec. 7 at 6:30 pm. Santa Claus will have the honor of climbing to the top of the tree to turn on thousands of twinkling lights. Entertainment for the tree lighting ceremony will begin at 5:30 pm and gourmet food trucks will be onsite. Specialty food vendors will also be present throughout the two-day event.
In concert with Santa’s Magical Village, the annual pancake breakfast with Santa will be held on Sunday, Dec. 8 from 9 to 11:30 am in the Community Center, 3 Civic Center Drive. Tickets are $5 for adults and $4 for children and may be purchased at the door.
