NEW FARMERS’ MARKET DEBUTING ON RESTAURANT ROW IN SAN MARCOS

SAN MARCOS, CA – The San Diego County Farm Bureau is opening a new certified farmers’ market in the heart of the San Marcos community on Restaurant Row. The market will open on Sunday, July 21 at 10:00 a.m. on the corner of San Marcos Blvd. and Via Vera Cruz. It will run from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. There will be an opening ceremony at 10:30 with remarks from Julie Walker, President of the San Diego County Farm Bureau. Live music by Idlewild will follow the opening ceremony presentation.

Every Sunday, the San Marcos Farmers’ Market will focus on bringing together a large selection of high quality San Diego grown farm products and pairing them with a community gathering of artisans and premium prepared and hot food. Seasonal produce including fruits, vegetables, eggs, honey, flowers and herbs will be available. This market will fulfill the need for access to certified local produce in the active downtown area of San Marcos.

The market will accept Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) system and Women, Infants, Children (WIC) Fruit and Veggie Vouchers. The market is also equipped to accept debit and credit payments for any purchase at the market.

 San Diego County Farm Bureau is a nonprofit trade organization with over 5,000 members. In operation since 1914, it has been representing San Diego County agriculture through public relations, education and public policy advocacy in order to promote the economic viability of agriculture balanced with appropriate management of natural resources. The Farm Bureau operates farmers’ markets in Linda Vista, City Heights and San Marcos at Cal State University.
