The San Diego County Sheriff’s Department is now a registered contributor to the Nixle community notification service. The web-based service, provided by Nixle LLC, is a geographic-based public notification system available free of charge to residents of San Diego County. Nixle was developed by members in the public safety field to be used as a tool to help promote awareness about public safety aspects in local communities. The four primary categories of information that is released are alerts, advisories, traffic information (including road closures), and community information (i.e. events, pertinent notices, etc.).

Residents can sign-up by visiting www.nixle.com. User information is not given or sold to any other entities. Once registered, you will receive e-mail alerts and text messages from the Sheriff’s Department. From within your Nixle account, you always have the option to define what notifications you receive and from whom.
For more information on Nixle, contact the County Crime Prevention Unit at 760-510-5254 or visit www.sdsheriff.net/nixle.
