SAN MARCOS — The state Supreme Court’s ruling Thursday to uphold the Legislature’s decision to abolish redevelopment agencies leaves much of San Marcos development plans in a state of uncertainty, officials said.

The ruling is considered especially detrimental to the city’s Creek District, a 214-acre area designed to create a downtown.

“Now we have to reassess just about everything,” San Marcos Mayor Jim Desmond said. “I can’t tell you what’s safe and what’s not,” as far as projects already approved by the City Council.
