Sheriff Press release regarding yesterday’s fatal accident near Chevron:
On October 3rd , 2017, at approximately 4:48 p.m., Deputies from the San Diego County Sheriff’s San Marcos Station, Traffic Division responded to a vehicle versus a pedestrian collision in the 1700 block of San Elijo Road. Based on the preliminary investigation it was determined a vehicle was entering the number one lane of southbound San Elijo Road from a nearby business when it struck a female pedestrian who was in the roadway at the time. The female sustained life threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment where she later succumbed to her injuries. The driver of the vehicle sustained no injuries and remained on scene. Impairment of alcohol and/or drugs is still under investigation. The cause of the collision is currently under investigation. North bound Sheriff vehicle and a south bound white BMW collided at the corner of Twin Oaks and Village Drive this AM. Sheriff was controlling downhill speed of a pack of cars as they approached intersection. Sheriff vehicle lights were not on.
A multi-car collision on San Elijo Hills Road near Questhaven Road occurred at approximately 2;30 pm this afternoon (3.19.13). Motorists can expect delays and are encouraged to use alternate routes while public safety crews work to clear the incident.
