Motorists traveling on San Marcos surface streets on Thursday, Dec. 9 may experience heavy traffic conditions when the California Highway Patrol (CHP) closes Interstate 15 at 9 am. It is unknown at this time how long the closure will last, but it is estimated to be at least three hours.
The freeway will be closed to southbound traffic at Center City Parkway (just north of El Norte) and to northbound traffic at State Route 78. A detour will be placed directing traffic to exit both north and southbound to Center City Parkway, which runs parallel to I-15. San Marcos’ traffic engineers are adjusting signal timings along Twin Oaks Valley Road and other major arterials to help expedite traffic flow on Thursday.
The freeway closure is part of the emergency management plan associated with burning down the so-called “bomb factory” house found in Escondido last month.
This past weekend the San Elijo FC GU13 team brought home the very first set of hardware for San Elijo FC at the Dave Shelton Memorial Cup in Escondido. The girls played in a very tough Silver bracket and put together three solid wins against some tough competition to enable them to advance to the Final before losing to a very tough Oceanside Breakers team. “This is very exciting for our girls and the club. For this to happen in such a short period of time, and in our inagaural season is just awesome for not only this team, but for all the kids and parents who represent our club. I have a feeling this is the first of many great things in the future for our players and our club.” said Chris Fitzsimmons Founder and Director of San Elijo FC.
