San Marcos City officials announced today that there may be significant traffic delays near the new Costco Wholesale when it opens on Friday, July 8 at 8 am. The new Costco is located at 725 Center Drive near the intersection of SR-78 and Nordahl Drive.
Traffic may remain heavy throughout the grand opening weekend at this location. Costco has hired sheriff’s deputies and California Highway Patrol officer to monitor the area and help assist with traffic flow.
The city asks for residents patience during this grand-opening weekend.
Costco’s new state-of-the-art facility in San Marcos measures 148,500 square feet, which is more than 10 percent larger than the old one and includes a new gas station. The new warehouse also employs 15 more employees for a total of 325 all together.
Costco opened its original location in San Marcos in 1984, and closed it after the company determined it was too small to adequately provide all the amenities that newer buildings have.
This is great, however I’m disappointed that this store doesn’t have Gelatto for sale like the Carmel Mountain Ranch Store has. I was told during the April streetfair event by a Costco Representative that this would be in this store.
