The Cal State San Marcos physics department is hosting a viewing at Double Peak Park in San Elijo Hills on Tuesday June 5th. Physics staff members will have a solar telescope set up at 3:30 p.m. The park is at 900 Double Peak Drive, off San Elijo Road.  The Viewing is free and open to the public. A solar Telescopes will be set up to allow observers to view the rare transit event in which Venus will slowly cross the face of the sun. This will not occur again until 2117. The transit begins at 3:09 p.m. and continues for six hours and 40 minutes. In San Diego County, it will be view-able through sunset. The Double Peak Park closes at sunset.
