Armed robbery in San Marcos

Three people, one armed with a black handgun, robbed a gas station/minimart this afternoon in San Marcos, sheriff’s Lt. Anthony Ray said.

Ray said the robbery was reported at 2:34 p.m. at a Chevron station on San Elijo Road near Schoolhouse Way, first from a panic alarm coming from the business, and then from a call from someone inside the gas station.Ray said the sheriff’s department is reviewing a videotape from the station. He said two of the suspects were white male adults; the gender and race of the third is not yet known.

Ray said that at least one of the suspects ordered about 10 people inside and outside the station to get on the ground. A woman who contacted the Union-Tribune said her son’s friends, who attend nearby San Elijo Middle School, were among the people told to get down. The school had just been let out for the day. Ray said the suspects fled with cash and the clerk’s cell phone. They left in a newer white minivan, possibly a Toyota. The sheriff’s Department Astrea helicopter was called to help search for the suspects. No one was injured, Ray said.via Newsblog-UT | Armed robbery in San Marcos.
