San Elijo Hills Resident wins California State Hockey Championships with San Diego Jr Gulls

San Elijo Hills resident Nate Wennes plays on the new California State Champion Jr Gulls ice hockey team. The victorious Gulls won the state tittle last weekend at The San Jose Sharks arena.

The Gulls play out of the Escondido Icexeplex and our a non-profit competitive ice hockey club, fielding teams at various age and skill levels through Midget AAA.  These teams practice 2 times  per week and participate in 1 game per weekend (Throughout Southern Cal), as well as play in 3-4 Tournaments. Players that wish to play at higher levels (ie: NHL, College Hockey, Junior Hockey, etc) will be exposed to this route via Travel Hockey.  The Jr. Gulls have many alumni that are playing Junior and College hockey and in 2005 one of the Jr. Gulls players was drafted in the NHL Draft.
