Hoedown in the Hills

Yeehaw! The San Elijo Hills Women’s Club’s fall fundraiser, Hoedown in the Hills, benefitting Straight from the Heart, a local support and outreach organization serving 5000 North County foster children and their families, will be held on Saturday, September 16 at the Williams Barn, located in San Marcos’ Walnut Grove Park, beginning at 6:00 p.m.
Attendees will enjoy mouth-watering chicken, pork, and tri-tip BBQ, sides and dessert, beer and wine, lively music, line dancing, and silent and live auctions offering guests the opportunity to bid on amazing items, gift basket, and personal services. The Fair will highlight services and products that improve the lives of women and children, from health services to fitness; from safety to fashion. Face painting, crafts for children, and even activities for pets will be included. BunnyPalooza!

The San Elijo Hills Community Association is having its Annual BUNNYPALOOZA on Saturday, April 8th 9:30 a.m-12:00p.m.at the Hilltop field of San Elijo Hills Park.
This year’s event will include an egg hunt, bounce houses, face painting, crafts, photo ops with the Easter bunny, light refreshments, and more! This year we added a DJ! They will provide music, games, and an obstacle course so parents and kids of all ages can enjoy some friendly competition!

The Egg Hunt will be split by different age groups in 10 minute increments beginning at 10:00 AM.

Don’t forget to bring your own basket to collect your eggs and a camera to take pictures with the Bunny! Hope to see you there!

Yee-haw! Dust off your boots because the 2017 The Country Fair is back and better than ever before! This year it will be co-hosted by Double Peak School and San Elijo Elementary!
The community of San Elijo has grown and so has the fair!! This year’s shindig will be held Friday, May12th from 5pm – 8pm and Saturday, May 13th 11am – 5pm. Yes, you read that right! Twice the time with a lot more fun!

Seek thrills on your favorite carnival rides like the Zipper, Crazy Plane, Umbrella Cars, Cycle Jump, Alligator Alley and more. Plus enjoy food and live music on Friday night. Saturday will feature the new rides. Plus the same fun activities from the past including Pony Rides and Petting Zoo.

The Country Fair committee needs new ranchers (Sponsors) and ranch hands (volunteers for the committee) to help make their biggest fundraiser of the year a good ole-fashioned success. The Jonville Team 12th Annual Community Garage Sale and Charity Event

May 20th, 2017. 7:00am – 11:00am held at the San Elijo Hills and Old Creek Ranch located at 1501 San Elijo Rd South #101, San Marcos, CA 92078.

This annual event, produced by the Jonville Team – the area real estate experts in North County- is designed to utilize a community-wide garage sale and spring cleaning fever to raise money for local charities. Last year, over 120 homes in the communities of San Elijo Hills and Old Creek Ranch participated in the garage sale for a small $10.00 donation fee, with 100% of the proceeds going to local charities. This year, all the proceeds from participating homes will go to Straight from the Heart- Helping Foster Children across the County and Casa De Amparo: a local charity recognized as a leader in treating and preventing child abuse and neglect in San Diego County and beyond, with locations in Oceanside and San Marcos. The non-profit organization annually serves over 1,000 Casa Kids, from prenatal to 25 years old, as well as over 700 families, through six integrated programs that promote healing, growth, and healthy relationships.

In addition to the event charities, every year many neighbors join forces and combine their garage sale items to raise money for their own causes – raising funds for sports teams and their own social causes, for example. The fundraising isn’t confined to just garage sale items, a handful of bake sales can also be found throughout the community to feed hungry shoppers.

It is an ideal event to find fantastic bargains and unique items in one location. Shoppers can pick up a map of participating homes in designated spots around San Elijo Hills the day of the event.

Open House Sign Policy

The San Elijo Hills Community Association has a very specific sign policy in place regarding Open House signs in the community implemented to keep our community beautiful! The San Elijo Hills Community Association’s governing documents prohibit the display of any non-Association signs in the Common Area. The intent of the San Elijo Hills Open House Sign Policy is to (1) provide an acceptable means for homeowners to market homes for sale within the community; (2) reduce the number of open house signs used in the community; and (3) discourage the ‘alternative’ means of signage that have been used in the past (sign spinners, signs on cars, etc).

It is your responsibility as the homeowner to notify your agent of the policy prior to putting out their signage. If it does not follow the guidelines, it will be removed and disposed of. The Open House Policy can be found on our website www.sanelijohills.net for your convenience. Thank you for your anticipated cooperation.

The next Board of Directors meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, April 18, 2017, 6:00 pm at the San Elijo Hills REC Center (1105 Elfin Forest Rd., San Marcos, CA 92078).

College Scholarship Fundraiser -San Elijo Hills Women’s Club

Every Friday during the month of May-Pistachio Hair Studio has partnered with San Elijo Hills Women’s Club (SEHWC) to help support their Higher Education Scholarship Fund.

Sustaining a strong value in education, Pistachio is happy to support this program that grants an annual monetary award to one female at San Marcos High School.  The Career Development Department at the high school will select a student who has maintained exceptional achievement in academics and community service throughout the course of their education.

This young woman has already proven her dedication towards her education and has been accepted at a continued education institution. The higher education scholarship will recognize this student for her strong work ethic and assist her in her educational goals.

Pistachio Hair Studio will be hosting a fundraiser every Friday during the month of May from 9am to 7pm. 30% of any salon service, as well as 10% of any retail purchase will go to the Higher Education Scholarship Fund.

–       Tax deductible donations are $25 per person, all of which will go to Women’s Empowerment International (WE) which gives grants to women to help them work their way out of poverty

–       Hats are welcome so if you like hats, please wear your favorite or browse in our Hat Loaner Boutique to borrow one for the day

–       We can seat 64 people so make your reservation right away.  This event is open to everyone so bring someone you know will enjoy the experience.

–       Includes shopping at a Bazaar to sell goods made by some of the women who were helped by WE here in San Diego.  There will be jewelry, scarves, and African artifacts. There will also be Fresh Produce Sales from the organic garden run by International Rescue Committee in University Heights.
