City, Chamber to host first-ever Education Avenue event Education Avenue will be part of the Grand Spring Festival and Taste of San Marcos
San Marcos, CA – The City of San Marcos and the San Marcos Chamber of Commerce have teamed up to present Education Avenue, a special section at the annual Grand Spring Festival and Taste of San Marcos planned for Sunday, April 6. The Grand Spring Festival and Education Avenue run from 9 am to 5 pm; the Taste of San Marcos runs from noon to 5 pm. The event will be held on Via Vera Cruz between San Marcos Boulevard and Grand Avenue. Admission to the Grand Spring Festival and Education Avenue is free. Admission to the Taste of San Marcos is $20 per person. Education Avenue will be dedicated to showcasing the various quality education resources in San Marcos. Exhibitors include California State University San Marcos, Palomar College, High Tech High, San Marcos Unified School District, National Communications Training Center, University of Phoenix, University of Redlands, San Diego County Library, Study Hall USA, Escondido Education Compact and Kids Connections Learning Center. Visitors to Education Avenue will be able to talk with representatives from these schools to learn more about the programs they offer in San Marcos. Exhibitors will also be showcasing their educational programs through live demonstrations, presentations and hands-on discussions on the “City Stage,” presented by the City of San Marcos. Demonstration examples include Ballet Folklorico, presented by Mission Hills High School; scenes from “Luann,” presented by Palomar College; “The Amazing Physics Show,” presented by Cal State San Marcos and more. Education Avenue will be one of many features at the San Marcos Chamber of Commerce’s Grand Spring Festival and Taste of San Marcos. In addition to Education Avenue, more than 250 vendors are slated to offer unique merchandise and services at the Festival. A children’s area will also be featured with a climbing wall and rides. Several local restaurants, wineries and breweries will make up the Taste of San Marcos event. The event is expected to draw nearly 55,000 residents and visitors.
