More than 30 local NAPA Auto Parts stores and NAPA AutoCare Repair Centers partnered together and ran a month long food drive for May. The mission was to benefit a local not-for-profit called Interfaith Community Services. They chose Interfaith because of their wide variety of programs ranging from daily hot meals and sack lunches for the homeless, to emergency food services for families in need. They also have provisions of showers, laundry services and mail services for our fellow community members that have fallen on hard times. Interfaith has so many other programs available too, which made the decision to support their organization an easy one. As stated by the NAPA Auto Parts owner, Matt Herr, “There is no time more critical than now to pull the community together to help and no easier way to provide direct assistance than with food.”
“Everyone has a sense of wanting to help, but so many don’t know how. Our goal is to give everyone in the community an easy way to help, and a tangible way to directly support another family in need,” stated Matt.
The Drive Out Hunger campaign began slow, but started picking up steam towards the end of the month, prompting them to try again. So, one can at a time and one NAPA bucket at a time, they are asking for the communities support. Every can will make a difference; every bucket can hold enough food for 3 days to a family. Please drop off any non-perishable food items to any of the participating NAPA locations listed below and help NAPA fill their buckets. Churches, homes, individuals and business’ should consider participating. NAPA can send a pick up truck to collect!
