The City of San Marcos will hold its seventh annual Volunteer Improvement Beautification Event (VIBE) on Saturday, October 17 from 8 am to 3 pm. The VIBE program will revitalize a series of homes in a local San Marcos neighborhood. The City of San Marcos is seeking volunteers to help with the home makeover efforts.

The City is collaborating with United We Paint to implement the event. United We Paint is a volunteer organization that provides home makeovers to the most deserving families.

United We Paint Executive Director Jeff Zotara states, “Volunteerism is at an all-time high now and we are seeking volunteers and site captains to help lead the event. The VIBE program is an excellent opportunity to give back and make new friends at the same time.”

Interested volunteers can register today at unitedwepaint.org or call United We Paint at (760) 855-8858 for more information. Volunteers are encouraged to register early. All volunteers must be registered no later than Monday, October 12.

Volunteers will help paint and landscape homes during the one-day VIBE event along with other home maintenance projects planned throughout the day. The City provides all volunteers with breakfast snacks, beverages, lunch, music, official volunteer t-shirt, volunteer certificate and pictures. Past events attracted a record 450 volunteers.

Karl Schwarm, Director of Housing & Neighborhood Services explains, “Our San Marcos VIBE program is an extension of our vision of a bigger and better future for San Marcos. The City of San Marcos continues to be actively involved in our community and make a difference in the lives of our residents. Hands on experiences such as the VIBE combine our heartfelt commitment together with our labor to make a transformational change in the lives of children, seniors, and families in San Marcos. I am excited to join our residents in picking up brushes and rolling up our sleeves to give back to our community”
