Nomads held to 1-1 draw for second consecutive week!

The San Elijo GU11 Nomads have found out in the last two weeks that the road to the top of the table is not easy. The Nomads were held to a 1-1 draw against a scrappy Bonita Matrix team on Saturday Morning.

The Nomads started off sluggish, but then opened the scoring up when Faith Fitzsimmons received a ball in midfield, turned into space, beat the last defender, and headed towards goal to bury a ball in the back of the net for a 1-0 lead. The lead did not last long. 4 minutes later a direct free kick was awarded to Bonita Matrix just outside the penalty box. Bonita took advantage of it by placing the ball high into the back of the net and over goalkeeper Isa Hernandez to tie the game before halftime.

The Nomads picked up the energy in the second half, but saw several opportunities to secure the much needed 3 points pass them by. With their second consecutive draw, the Nomads secured another point and await the results of other games on Saturday to see where they will land in the table. The Nomads are now 6-0-4 with 4 games left, and will play host to North San Diego Football Club next week as they continue their push towards winning the GU11 AA-C Division.
