The San Elijo Elementary Garden Committee will break ground on Saturday, December 19th at 7:00am. The garden will be located behind the SEE Library. Volunteers are needed to help dig holes for citrus trees and pull up some fountain grasses.
Here are the details on times and duties:
10am-12pm Need 10-20 people to dig up additional areas that
the bob cat can’t reach and to dig the holes for the citrus trees.
12pm-2pm Need about 10-20 people to pull up about 60 fountain grass clumps and finish the tree hole digging.
Please bring shovels, spades, pick axes and wheelbarrows, and gloves.
Due to the use of heavy machinery and sharp tools, no children are allowed on campus during this event.
If you are interested in helping out, please contact Sonja Brion at

San Elijo Hills Community gardens
Preliminary discussion has started on small pocket community gardens in select locations around San Elijo Hills. Residents would have an opportunity to rent small raised beds with water and fencing. The above picture is a cell phone picture of such a concept. Suggested locations are under consideration. The idea is that each location is ultra local to create stewardship by neighborhoods and no increased traffic.
Love this idea. I hope it becomes a reality. I have a small garden in my yard, but would like it to be bigger.
