SAN MARCOS —- A man suspected of pushing a woman, believed to be his girlfriend, found himself under arrest Monday afternoon when he failed to stop the mistreatment at the request of witnesses —- two off-duty sheriff’s deputies.
The two deputes were at the Albertsons at 1571 San Elijo Road at about 3 p.m. when they spotted the man mistreating the woman, said San Diego Sheriff’s Sgt. Stephanie Guerra.
“They attempted to help the victim, and it turned into a confrontation,” Guerra said.
When the two identified themselves as off-duty sheriff’s deputies, the revelation “didn’t seem to affect” the suspect, Guerra said.
She said the man was arrested on a misdemeanor charge of domestic violence.
