The City of San Marcos will sponsor a Discover San Marcos hike to the Discovery Lake area on Saturday, June 4. This free, three-mile hike will explore the trails near Discovery Lake and Cima Drive. The hike around the lake features native plants and local birds. The trail is wheelchair accessible. Participants will have the option of taking a longer, more difficult hike to Double Peak and the ridgeline trails.
Hikers will meet at the trailhead near Discovery Lake Park, 650 Foxhall Drive in San Marcos. Registration will begin at 8:30 am; the hike will start at 9 am. An adult must accompany all minors. Sturdy walking shoes are recommended; bring water and trail snacks. Dogs must be on a six-foot leash.
