Fog blocked the ocean view on a warm summer morning this week atop Double Peak Park in San Marcos, but Craig Sargent-Beach was still able to point out plenty of other distant natural landmarks. Mount Baldy peeked out from the haze 100 miles north, and Sargent-Beach, the San Marcos community services director, directed a visitor’s eyes to the San Jacinto range where tourists ride the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway. It’s a view that Thomas Wahlund loved and one that has inspired his wife to have a telescope and mural installed atop Double Peak in his memory. READ MORE VIA SIGN ON SAN DIEGO
