The San Marcos Planning Commission is scheduled to hold its last hearing Tuesday 1/17/11 on the city’s general plan update. On the agenda is discussion of whether to use a former San Elijo Hills area recycling center as a movie studio or business park.

As the City of San Marcos winds down its two-year general plan update process, a series of public hearings will be held in January and February to get final comments from residents and other interested parties on the proposed plan. The final public hearings are slated for January 9, 12 and 17 (planning commission hearings) at 6:30 pm and January 31, February 7 and 14 (city council meetings) at 6 pm.

All meetings will take place in the City Council Chamber at 1 Civic Center Drive except for the meetings on January 31 and February 7. Those meetings will be held at Mission Hills High School, 1 Mission Hills Court, on January 31 and at High Tech High, 1960 West San Marcos Boulevard, on February 7.

These final public hearings come on the heels of 12 public workshops and more than 20 public meetings with the General Plan Advisory Committee to refine the city’s new blueprint for development, land use, mobility, open space, resource conservation and safety.
