SAN MARCOS — Authorities seized about 5,000 marijuana plants estimated to be worth more than $5 million when mature during two confiscations this week in San Marcos and Temecula, San Diego County sheriff’s officials said Tuesday. A team of federal and local law enforcement officers seized about 3,800 marijuana plants Monday on private property near Oceanview Drive, south of California State University San Marcos, sheriff’s Lt. Hank Turner said.Members of the San Diego County Narcotics Task Force were in a sheriff’s helicopter when they spotted the plants about a week ago and were waiting to get a search warrant, Turner said.
