SAN MARCOS, CA The Spring Kick-Off Event at the San Marcos Farmers’ Market is set to join families, students and community members together for a day of healthy fun March 10 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the Cal State San Marcos Campus, on the corner of Twin Oaks Valley Road and Craven Road. North County residents are invited to come enjoy the warmer weather and the long awaited arrival of daylight saving time on Sunday at outdoor market and festival.
This free event will feature fresh San Diego grown produce, diverse hot food vendors, grass-fed beef, baked goods, gourmet spreads and specialty foods to wow the taste buds. Cooking with CSA will prepare dishes and offer taste tests using farmers’ market products to make healthy meals for the family.
Entertainment includes a petting zoo and plant transplants showcasing San Marcos High Schools’ FFA program, a bounce house for the kids and live music. The Jergers, a local California Rock style band made up of three Cal State San Marcos students will play at 10 a.m. Chris Harrell, an Oceanside local and talented singer will perform her set from noon to 2 p.m.
Other vendors at the market will include handcrafted jewelry, accessories, home items and health and beauty products.
The San Marcos Farmers’ Market has been operating since 2009 and runs on Wednesdays from 3-7 p.m. and Sundays 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesdays feature a food truck round-up with a variety of food trucks each week. The market accepts debit/credit, WIC and EBT as payment methods. Free parking during market hours.
