The sixth annual San Elijo Hills Country Fair on Saturday, April 13, will be an extravaganza of old-fashioned sights, tastes, sounds and experiences for the whole family.  The fair runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at San Elijo Elementary School, 1615 Schoolhouse Way, San Marcos.

“The Country Fair has become a much anticipated event in the San Elijo Hills community.  The fair helps bring the community together by building friendships and creating family memories while raising money for the children to have much needed educational programs,” said Monee Gardner, co-vice president of the Country Fair.

The festive event, which is organized by a huge team of community volunteers, will feature live international performances by local artists, a petting zoo, a train that travels through fabled  “Route 66,” inflatable slides and games, carnival rides, traditional fair food and treats, international food truck fare, and more than 20 professional midway games.

Additional highlights include a Prize Walk offering oversized pillow chums, arts and crafts for the kids and a silent auction with hundreds of items.  Admission to the fair is free and open to the public; tickets for rides, games and food will be available for sale at the event.  All proceeds benefit San Elijo Elementary.

“This fun day has every traditional ingredient but the greased pig,” said Michelle Philbrick, Country Fair volunteer.  “So slip on your boots, grab your cowboy hat, put on your gingham shirt and Levis and prepare for some old-fashioned fun and games.  This home-grown event just gets bigger and better every year,” she said.

“The Country Fair is one of the most treasured events of the year in the community, said Halé Richardson, director of marketing for San Elijo Hills.  “It’s a great way for neighbors to mingle and for visitors to experience life here.  And, it’s for a good cause,” she added.

Richardson encourages out-of-town visitors to stroll around the adjoining San Elijo Hills Towncenter, visit local shops and eateries, explore the 19-acre park, and tour some beautiful model homes.  San Elijo Hills currently features beautiful new homes that range in price from the low $400,000s to the $900,000s.

The San Elijo Hills Visitor Center is located in MarketWalk, at 1231 Elfin Forest Road West, Suite 111, San Marcos.  The Visitor Center is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.  For more information on San Elijo Hills, visit SanElijoHills.com or call toll-free (888) SAN-ELIJO (726-3545).
