The City of San Marcos Community Services will sponsor a Discover San Marcos Hike on Saturday, May 4. The Piedras Pintadas Trail is part of the San Dieguito River Park that will someday extend from Del Mar to Julian. The hike is free and will begin at 9 am; hikers can start signing in at 8:30 am.

This easy to moderate, 3.8 mile hike will explore the Kumeyaay cultural and interpretive trail along the south shore of Lake Hodges in Escondido. The hike is subject to cancellation in the event of rain.

Hikers will meet in the parking lot at Bernardo Bay Natural Area, Rancho Bernardo Road West (across from the retirement home.) The trailhead is south of Lake Hodges and west of I-15.

An adult must accompany all minors. Sturdy walking shoes are recommended; bring water and trail snacks. Dogs must be on a maximum 6’ leash at all times. For information on hikes or the City’s trails, visit www.san-marcos.net or call 744-9000, Ext. 3535
