San Marcos makes clean energy financing available in the City
Last year, the City of San Marcos opted to make the Property Assessed Clean Energy Program (PACE) available to residents and commercial property owners. Through PACE, independent contractors are able to offer homeowners and commercial property owners the ability to finance affixed renewable energy, energy-efficient, and water-efficient systems over time through their property taxes.
While San Marcos has made the PACE financing programs available in the Ctiy, individual private contractors have not been endorsed. Similarly, the City has not partnered with any private contractors on energy efficient projects. Homeowners and commercial property owners should report any such claims to the City by calling (760) 744-1050. ext. 3174.
Ultimately, the PACE program is designed to incentivize upgrades that make homes and businesses more comfortable while saving enough on utility bills to surpass the amount of money invested in the projects.
