Multiple fires are currently burning across San Marcos impacting approximately 700 acres at zero percent containment. Three homes in the City have been confirmed damaged or lost. Local officials have diligently prepared and are trained to handle a disaster of this nature and all available resources are being mobilized to battle this blaze.
Approximately 380 fire personnel and 84 engines are deployed. Governor Jerry Brown has authorized the deployment of eight helicopters to the San Diego region at day break.
Mandatory evacuations in the City of San Marcos are expected to stay in place through the night. Evacuated areas include all neighborhoods south of San Marcos Boulevard, including Lake San Marcos including Discovery Hills, Discovery Meadow, San Elijo Hills, Coronado Hills and Lake San Marcos.

City Hall will remain open on Thursday, May 15 at significantly reduced staffing levels.
San Marcos Community Services, including the Senior Center and Gymnasium will be closed through Thursday, May 15 and all classes have been canceled.
