Gas line break shuts down thoroughfare in San Marcos; one school sending students home

A gas line break led authorities to close a main thoroughfare near Cal State San Marcos on Wednesday morning.

There was also an unplanned power outage in the area, which ultimately led officials at Double Peak school to release students early. It was not immediately clear if the gas line break and power outage incidents were connected. READ MORE from the UT

Traffic update: Twin Oaks Valley Road now partially open. Some closures remain.

The southbound lanes of Twin Oaks Valley Road are now open. Northbound Twin Oaks Valley Road is down to one lane at S. Village Drive. Santa Barbara is closed west of Twin Oaks Valley Road. The closures are expected to last for a few additional hours. The City, San Diego Sheriff’s Office and SDG&E are working to reopen the roads as quickly as possible.

Earlier in the day, Twin Oaks Valley Road was closed from Village Drive to Double Peak School due to a main gas line break. The gas line has been secured and power is being restored to the area. For the latest information about power and gas, please contact SDG&E.
