About the General Plan Update
The City of San Marcos is embarking on a General Plan Update. The General Plan serves as the guiding document for achieving the community’s vision for the future, and the General Plan Update process will provide residents and businesses the opportunity to provide input to help shape the direction of the City going forward.

The General Plan is often referred to as the “road map” for the community’s future growth, resource management, and policy priorities that will be implemented over 10 to 20 years. The current General Plan was adopted in 2012, and in 2019, the City Council directed staff to initiate a comprehensive General Plan Update.

More information is available on the General Plan Update page of the City’s website.
