To all our friends, family, and fellow residents of San Elijo Hills,
We are reaching out with a desperate plea to help one of our own.
Chase Riehl is the son of one of our local veterinarians, Dr. Sunshine Riehl. For the past year and a half, Chase has been in a fight for his life against an uncommon form of childhood Leukemia.
Chase’s cancer was in a far too brief remission after receiving a bone marrow donation from his mom. Unfortunately, she was only a 50% match, but at the time she was the best they could find. Sadly, Chase is currently out of remission and now we’re looking to our caring community (and beyond) for a MIRACLE!
Luckily, this miracle is one that everyone can help us realize!
Finding Chase a donor is challenging because he is 25% Filipino, a genetic heritage which is notoriously hard to match. As a result, Chase’s best chance of finding that unicorn donor is if people of Filipino heritage sign up to be tested to be a bone marrow donation match.
We are currently on a mission to find that match. If you are or know someone of Filipino heritage PLEASE contact Be the Match for your test kit. You could, quite literally, save a life.
Even if you do not have any Filipino in your background, you can help us with this lofty mission. PLEASE pass this information on to your friends, coworkers, and anyone else you think may want to help us perform a miracle!
