For the second year in a row, Yamaha has selected 40 exceptional music educators under the age of 40. Anastasia Homes is just one of the honorees possessing action, courage, creativity, and growth characteristics while going above and beyond when instructing music programs. The 40 Under 40 music education advocacy program was established to honor music educators at all grade levels. Homes is an immensely skilled music educator, as the Director of Bands for San Elijo Middle School in San Marcos, California. Homes oversees the school’s Jazz Band, Wind Symphony, and three beginning band classes. Additionally, she guides student musicians in solo or ensembles and co-teaches the Golden Eagle Band.

“I was surprised and humbled states, Homes. I work hard because I love my job and it doesn’t feel like work because it brings me so much joy. I have an amazing team, my co-direct Shannon McIinnis and music coaches that help create the high achieving program we have. This recognition should not be just for me but for all who make the San Elijo Music Program great!”

Identical to the year before, hundreds of nominations were received by students, parents, teachers, and local instrument dealers and mentors highlighting the music educators who positively impacted their community and students.

“Despite another year of challenges, educators are undertaking the most innovative, creative, and impactful programs to make a difference in strengthening and encouraging music education nationwide truly,” said Heather Mansell, segment marketing manager, education at Yamaha. “Yamaha shares the same commitment to high-quality music education for all, and we look forward to supporting and encouraging the efforts of these 40 outstanding educators and the thousands more like them across the country.”
