A number of streets in San Elijo Hills are scheduled for slurry seal work this summer as part of the City of San Marcos’ 2026 street paving program.
The City of San Marcos says approximately 21 miles of roadway throughout the city will be resurfaced, with work expected to take place between July and October 2026.
For San Elijo Hills residents, the city’s paving maps show work planned on numerous neighborhood streets, particularly around the Questhaven Road, Double Peak, Old Creek Ranch and San Elijo Hills Road areas.

North of San Elijo Road / Double Peak area
Tucana Drive, Costa Del Sur, Pavo Court, Vega Way, Hailey Court, Lyra Lane, Festival Road, Chandelier Court, Regatta Court, Wild Canyon Drive, Idyllwild Way, Wild Iris Court, Rock Court, Terraza Mar and additional nearby street sections.
South of San Elijo Road / Questhaven area
Questhaven Road, Brightwood Drive, Reflection Street, Prism Drive, Citrine Way, Anchor Place, Horizon Court, Eclipse Drive, Antilla Way, Orion Way, Hollowbrook Court, Leeward Avenue, Blue Water Lane, First Light Road, Summer Moon Road, Grain Mill Road, Thorley Way, Avalon Way, Old Glen Street, Tularosa Lane, Windriver Street, Liquid Amber Way, Weatherstone Way, Lemon Tree Court and Tanglewood Drive.
Residents should check the City’s official paving map for the exact street sections included, since the project does not necessarily cover the full length of every road.
What to expect
This project primarily uses a slurry seal, a protective surface treatment made from asphalt, fine gravel and water. It seals small cracks, creates a smoother surface and helps extend the life of existing pavement.
According to the City:
- Residents and businesses on scheduled streets will receive advance notice.
- Door hangers will be distributed at least 72 hours before resurfacing.
- Temporary No Parking restrictions will be posted.
- Typical work hours are 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., although some high-traffic areas may be completed at night or on weekends.
- Residents should move vehicles and turn off irrigation before work begins.
- In most cases, streets will reopen for driving and parking by the end of the workday.
- The new slurry surface takes approximately three weeks to fully cure before permanent street markings can be completed.
The City says trash collection and normal street sweeping should continue during the project, although mail and delivery services could experience temporary impacts.
